A Cinderella Story
A few weeks ago, my wife Samantha and I had the opportunity to sit down with Kristin Bodendorfer, the owner and creator of an amazing non-profit charity organization called Diva Donations, to come up with a way to to promote and hopefully grow this wonderful cause and to help as many girls in our area as we can.
Diva Donations (DIVA stands for Divinely Inspired Virtuously Acquired), located in North Lima, is a lending boutique and dress closet that was created to allow girls from all over our area who might not have the means to purchase their own dress to rent formal wear for special events such as homecoming and prom for as little as $25! Guys can rent tuxes, why can’t girls rent dresses, right?
“Because Every Girl Deserves A Cinderella Experience”
What They Do
Their slogan, “Because Every Girl Deserves A Cinderella Experience” is beyond fitting. You contact Diva Donations (links below) to set up an appointment, and then simply come in to the location and find your perfect dress, and you make a rental deposit of $25 ($35 for prom). When the girls return the dresses and accessories, they get all but $10 ($15 for prom) of their deposit back! The $10-15 donation is used solely for operational costs and for dress cleanings. All the dresses have been donated, and there are literally THOUSANDS to choose from! You can even get the assistance of a ‘Fairy Godmother’ if you’d like. These ‘Godmothers’ are volunteers who will help each girl find the dress of her dreams. Don’t you just love it?
There is one more thing that makes this even better…Diva Donations will refund the ENTIRE DEPOSIT to any girl who volunteers and does at least 1 hour of community service! How great is that? Actively encouraging and rewarding community service is only one of the many things we love about what Kristin is doing with Diva Donations, and it’s just one more reason why we wanted to get on board and help out.
Dresses can also be purchased. You can see some items listed at this LINK. These are only a fraction of the dresses and items available. There is also an Ebay page set up to receive donations and to also purchase dresses. Please go to this LINK
Kropp Photography is proud to partner with Diva Donations to put together what we are calling The Diva Sessions 2016! We are going to be providing professional mini-sessions for 10 lucky girls that will be chosen by Kristin at Diva Donations. We want to reward the girls that go above and beyond to help out around their schools and their communities with beautiful images of themselves in their Diva Donations dresses. We will provide an in-studio mini-session, complimentary hair and makeup for each girl, as well as 5 retouched and edited images, 1-8×10 fine art print, and an online gallery to share with family and friends. Each session has an approx. value of $500!
Samantha and I are extremely proud and excited to be a part of this cause, and to partner with such a wonderful woman and organization.
